Broken (Shavur), 2019
“I am curious to hear the sounds that the broken instruments will emit. What can we pull out of them? What color and movement will each instrument’s story and ‘imperfections’ lead us to? What cries will they sound? We will try to conjure up a wild landscape, the force of nature, stormy weather, animals and creatures. To produce a rooted creation based on free improvisation, spectral music and a kind of abstract world comprising small worlds, each of which, in its own way, is tempestuous and dynamic. Inspiring the musicians to play the music that is closest to their heart individually, and as a group, and to explore, in real time, the fractured pieces that they are holding in their hand.”
